ABSTRACT

The findings of our research into workplace learning have been explained in different chapters. Perhaps the most important outcome of the work has been the realization that if we are to understand workplace learning, and especially if we are to improve it, it is important to take a more holistic, integrated approach. One way of understanding this is to think of improvements to workplace learning taking place at three overlapping scales of activity. The first two concern the context of learning and the third the way in which individual workers interact with the opportunities afforded by this context.
