Stereo location production for television and film

The 1990s saw the introduction of stereo sound to television in the UK, and coverage is now nearly complete nationally. The BBC invented the Nicam stereo system, which is almost the equivalent of CD quality, but Independent Television beat them to the post with a national service, despite the BBC transmitting programmes in stereo for many years prior to the ITV national service.
