ABSTRACT

Premia is a three-year national project based at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and funded by the Higher Education Funding Council of England (HEFCE) to improve provision for disabled postgraduate research students (https://www. premia.ac.uk). To place the project in context, the proportion of disabled students at undergraduate level has been steadily rising in the past five years and in the UK that growth is beginning to be reflected in the numbers of disabled students entering research education. There is now less than 1 per cent difference (Figure 15.1).
