Disasters and Housing Policy for Rural Bangladesh

This paper considers rural housing policy formulation in the context of settlement pattern and development strategies. It proposes four types of programmes to be identified at the national Government level. A case is made for the establishment of a unit of Government to be responsible for the formulation of rural housing improvement: an enabling rather than an executive agency.
