Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Latin America and the Caribbean: Notes on the Decade of the 1990s

There have been various discussions since the last conference on disasters and the small dwelling in 1978 to examine the linkages between disasters and development. One outcome of those discussions has been growing awareness on the part of international development assistance agencies and national Governments of the vulnerability of all types of development activities, particularly capital investment projects, to natural disasters.
