ABSTRACT
Two institutions dominated Babylonia, the palace and the temple, representingthe political power and the religious centre, respectively. As seat of the political power, the palace housed the king and his court. In the temples the dozens, even hundreds, of gods of Babylonia were venerated, the main city god or minor gods in smaller sanctuaries.
