ABSTRACT

Business in the UK has changed fundamentally in the last 20 years. With manufacturing having largely given way to a thriving services sector, people power is now at the heart of our economy. And the face of those people is changing. Women now make up nearly half the workforce.1 The labour market is ageing too: by 2010, only one-fifth of the workforce will be made up of white, able-bodied men under 45 years old and in full-time work.2
