ABSTRACT
The share of services in gross domestic product is high, even in developing economies, and rises further with the level of economic development. The World Bank’s World Development Indicators show that the share of services in total value added of the least developed countries was 42 per cent in 2000, compared with 55 per cent in the middle-income countries and 69 per cent in the high-income countries.
