ABSTRACT

The passive response of a building is primarily reflected in its temperature variation without operation of the heating or cooling system. This response helps us assess the effectiveness of the building passive systems. In the case of heating analysis, it is useful to compare the response on a cold sunny day with that on a cold cloudy day. In both cases, the outdoor temperature profile should be the same in order to assess the solar savings by comparing the mean room temperatures in the two cases. This simple approach was introduced in Section 1.4.
