ABSTRACT

The work of LEAs and schools in child protection is governed by a collection of procedures and guidance documents, both local and national. Some are specifically aimed at educational professionals, such as DfES circulars and Ofsted expectations; some include guidance for schools within wider procedural advice, such as the inter-agency handbook for each local authority. The best way to approach this mass of information is from the general to the particular. Readers need to ensure that they have all the current documents to hand, as there may have been additions since the publication of this book. Again I have tried not simply to repeat them, but to analyse their implications.
