ABSTRACT

First, we simply do not have the knowledge to be able to tell every teacher exactly what they should do in every situation they face. Of course, guidelines from government agencies and subject associations can be really helpful. It is also important to take into account the limited base of research evidence on learning in BEE. The experience of colleagues can also be very revealing. But ultimately each teacher needs to make frequent judgements about which knowledge to bring to bear on the situations they face. Even the same lesson plan can work out very differently with one class than with another and even with the same class at different times of the week.
