ABSTRACT
In many universities there are courses in subjects such as creative writing, dance, music, drama, and so on where an element of performance is an integral part of the process. These elements are often regarded as more challenging to assess than, for example, written exams. The advantages and disadvantages shown in Table 15 set the context.
