ABSTRACT

In a book about assessment, we must not forget that things can go wrong when students don’t approach their tasks in the ways in which we intend them to do so. Plagiarism is usually interpreted as ‘unfair or inappropriate usage of other people’s work’, while cheating is somewhat more sinister – though the borderlines between the two are impossible to define precisely. The following suggestions may help you to ensure that students know their responsibilities regarding fair play.
