ABSTRACT

Postproduction happens after the production phase where you haveacquired all the moving images and much of the sound you needto make a programme. The process of postproduction is everything that you need to do to finish the programme and make it ready for transmission. The technical aspects of this process are now digital. It can be a costly and complex process using sophisticated high-end editing facilities, computer-generated animation (CGA) and digital imaging, or it can be done on your computer at home. Postproduction for television takes place at both ends of the spectrum. The other aspect of postproduction deals with finalising the paperwork, checking copyright and contracts, and marketing the programme. It may have a broadcast slot on a main channel but look at how busy those schedules are. To make your programme stand out and be noticed often requires a clever marketing strategy.
