ABSTRACT
Senge’s purpose in posing this simple question was threefold: to draw our attention to the significant changes taking place in the nature and organisation of business corporations; to remind us that the present may not be an accurate guide to the future; and, equally fundamental, to illustrate that the first prerequisite of effective management is an awareness of one’s external environment.
