ABSTRACT

So what technologies can best support learning? From the lecturer and student feedback received during the EASEIT-Eng evaluations it seems that images (especially moving images) and simulations are especially well received, and they are appreciated because they provide ways of understanding a concept which are not otherwise available. Online assessments are also appreciated, they can lighten the assessment burden on lecturers and provide students with instant feedback on their progress. A final thought, students will only do the work they think the teacher expects them to do: if the use of technology seems like an optional extra, then the students won’t use it. Technology-based resources must be integrated into the course so that they seem to the student to be as natural a part of the course as lectures, tutorials and lab classes.
