ABSTRACT

Previous research has indicated that many aspects of human performance vary according to a circadian rhythm (Atkinson and Reilly, 1996). The majority of measures follow a curve closely corresponding to the rhythm in core temperature, which peaks at about 18:00 hours. Since football training and matches are held at various times during the day, ranging from 10:00 to 20:00 hours, the study of diurnal variation in skilled tasks related to soccer is relevant.
