ABSTRACT

In soccer, musculo-skeletal injuries to the lower limb are frequently observed, although soccer represents one of the most popular sports. Sixty-eight to 88% of all soccer injuries involve the lower extremity, especially the knee and ankle (Heidt et al., 2000). The incidence of soccer injuries in adult male players is estimated to be 10 to 35 per 1000 game hours (Dvorak, 2000).
