ABSTRACT

According to the literature on adults and youth team sports (Chelladurai, 1984, 1993; Bortoli, 1995; Fonseca, 1995 a, b; Serpa, 1995, 2002; Vanfraechem-Raway, 2001, 2002), our results, even if limited to young soccer players, assessed the importance of knowledge in coach/athletes relationship and thus team efficacy. Moreover, we noted that coaches who had in their professional life a high contact with youth (pedagogical courses concerned with motor learning and experiences of motivation processes) appeared to have a better knowledge of their athletes.
