ABSTRACT
Analysis of the technical content during a ball-possession sequence revealed comparable trends for both types of sequences. Significant differences were found for two factors. These were the amount of ball controls and the last action, the shot Ball control is a label (describing a typical soccer motor behaviour) that was given to a player on the ball when the situation demanded a skilful response of that player in order to keep the ball in
control. This event is considered not to be a 1/1 situation. Such moments when skilful ball control was needed occurred more often (P<0.1) in a sequence leading to a score as opposed to the attempt-sequence.
