ABSTRACT
The regression equation between ‘the team-point balance’ and ‘the contribution factors of the defensive performances are shown in Table 2.
High regression values were obtained in this analysis (R square=0.85, s= 21.87, F=18.67, P<0.01). The findings presented in Table 2 indicate that the three independent variables of performance in defence (counter-attack) explain the contributing factors for the positive points balance. Furthermore, a statistically significant correlation was found between the independent variable ‘Counter-attack points (CAP)’ and the index ‘Team points balance’. These result suggested that the performance in defence, not only the ‘number of turnover (TO)’ and ‘the counter-attack gain (CAG) but also ‘counter-attack points (CAP)’ which means getting ‘TRY (5 points)’ or ‘Penalty Goal (3 points)’ after the turnover would be more important to the team points balance, in effect securing ‘a Win’. More practically, when the turnover has occurred, the counter-attack should be executed with a more effective strategy for securing points.
