Becausewewantedsomemeaningtocomefromthisapparentlysenselesstragedy,weweredeterminedtocontinueRaphell'swork-herconcernforthementallyafflicted.Tothatend,weestablishedtheRaphellSimsLakowitzMemorial FoundationanderectedamonumentthatwouldnotonlycommemorateRaphell'sworkinthefieldofmentalhealthbutalsocelebrateherspiritofunderstandingandlove.Itisthatspiritwhichisembodiedinthemonumentandwhich istheessenceoftheFoundation'smotivationforhelpingthementallyafflictedto livemorefully.
