ABSTRACT
Like many regions in advanced economies today, the Seattle metropolitan region has the bulk of its employment accounted for by various service industries. This is not something new, for even a half century ago service employment accounted for most jobs in the Seattle metropolitan region. The share of services jobs has continued to rise, and the composition of employment within the local service sector has changed.
