ABSTRACT

The most common cause of action to recover compensation for injuries suffered in the course of play is negligence.

(James, 2001: 695)

Those who engage in sport and recreation as participants, spectators, organisers, coaches, officials etc may well suffer physical or psychological harm or injury. An accident or incident resulting in some kind of harm does not necessarily mean that it was caused by another sport participant’s negligence.
