ABSTRACT
This chapter is mainly an analysis of the questionnaires A.1 and A.2 (see the Appendix), which were used to interview two samples of households in the villages: those whose family members did or did not include a migrant. The main objectives of the analysis are:
1 to compare these two groups of households in various aspects such as the basic objective data, their subjective opinions, their general views on city and village life, and general attitudes to life; and
2 to gain an understanding of the current extent and characteristics of migration in the region studied and the social and economic effects this migration is having on these sending areas.
