ABSTRACT
In recent years there’s been a rapid growth in the number of continuous news or ‘24-hour news’ television channels across Europe. British viewers with digital reception can now pick up BBC News 24, the ITV News Channel, CNBC, Bloomberg TV, as well as the pioneers of the genre, CNN and Sky News. Internationally, BBC World now has a substantial audience, Euronews has the biggest audience in Europe for an international news channel, and Deutsche Welle TV is one of many overseas broadcasters providing an Englishlanguage service.
