ABSTRACT
The St Albans Psalter contains the first known version in Old French of the story of St Alexis. How and why this story of an Eastern holy man spread to the West to become particularly popular in the eleventh and twelfth centuries, and what connections the story might have with Christina, are highly complex questions.
