ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the development of new learning procedures designed to encourage autonomy in learning. This scheme arose during a time of political unrest and has been surrounded by public controversy ever since. Autodidactism has often been thought of as a private and individualistic activity, but here it flourishes in the context of group project work, and within a semi-residential setting.
