Ma‘amad (Hebrew: “delegation”) A priestly delegation. In Temple times, twenty-four different priestly watches were in charge of the Jerusalem Temple, and for each watch there was a ma’amad (delegation), made up of priests, Levites, and Israelites. When the time came for a particular watch to go up to Jerusalem, its priests and Levites went up with it.
