ABSTRACT

A combination of traditional allegiances, geopolitical factors and economic considerations continued to shape British interests in the region after the Kosovo war. The rehabilitation of Serbia remained a key component of UK policy, but it was finally conceded that Slobodan Milosevic, the target of NATO missiles and now an indictee for war crimes, was no longer a credible player in this mission, and Britain, together with the United States, contrived to remove him from power.
