ABSTRACT

The theme in 2000 for a local high schools’ entrepreneurship competition in northern KwaZulu-Natal province was tourism. Ideas submitted included ‘decorative plates, a spaza shop, Zulu regalia, unusual candles and giftwrap, cheerful items made from recycled material, magnetic fridge notepads with ethnic borders and pens covered with fake animal fur’ (Sunday Tribune, 22 July 2000; https://www./iol.co.za/index 18/01/02).
