ABSTRACT

Effective musculoskeletal function is important in soccer, both for enhancing performance and minimising injury. Impairment in muscle function is reflected in strength imbalance and insufficiency and poor flexibility in the lower extremities. These are influential in movements such as sprinting, jumping, tackling, changing direction and kicking, whereas during heading and tackling, strength in trunk and upper body muscles is also utilised.
