ABSTRACT
The last thirty years have seen three phases of engagement with planning and housing issues in rural Wales. Each of these phases indicates how the rural housing problem has been defined, what housing pressures are evident and how these might be addressed. Central to such engagement has been a rising concern to prioritise local needs and the hope that, with the new National Assembly for Wales, local policies will be developed to address regional circumstances.
