ABSTRACT
ACQUAINTANCE In 1963, my friend V.M.Chechetkin and I decided to study astrophysics. At that time, we were in our last year of study at the Aeromechanics Department of the Moscow Physical Technical Institute (MPTI) and had to travel to the base in Podlipki, very far away; we knew only one astrophysicist, S.B.Pikelner, who, at Valerii’s suggestion, we visited at the Stern-berg Astronomical Institute (SAI).
