ABSTRACT

Joe was unpopular with the teachers and feared by the other children. He came across as a surly child with a huge chip on his shoulder. Joe seemed to feel that everything that happened was unfair and that nothing was his responsibility. He was on the fringe of boys who were the rough-and-tumble types that charged around the playground and played football. Joe wanted to be with this group but bullied them too often to be really welcome. He would work grudgingly and many times I saw him mouth the answers to questions but refuse to give them openly.
