ABSTRACT

Clearly teaching children aged 5-6 and 10-11 years will be very different in many respects. The children aged 10 and 11 will have had a much wider range of life experiences, leading to a greater maturity. The younger children will be at a much earlier stage on the path. Whatever their age and stage RE will be seeking to ensure that it promotes

Key skills

In addition to the development of these qualities, there are a number of key skills which are being developed across the whole curriculum and these are progressive. It is unclear whether any key skill is unique to RE. However there are a number which are of particular significance to RE and these will be utilised in RE teaching and through their use developed and enhanced further. In particular, the following skills play a very important role.
