ABSTRACT
Within these views it is easy to detect a number of underlying attitudes. There is the lingering notion that the real aim of religious education is still confessional and that we should, therefore, be using all our energy in commending Christianity. In such a view, a study of other religions is something of a distraction and a waste of time. There is also the fear of confusing children – religious ideas from others are too difficult for young children.
