ABSTRACT

The macroergonomic analysis and design (MEAD) approach was developed based on the contributions of Emery and Trist (1978), Taylor and Felton (1993), and Clegg et al. (1989) and experience with largescale change in academia, industry, and government (Kleiner, 1996). It is more fully described in Hendrick and Kleiner (2001, 2002). The approach integrates sociotechnical systems (STS) theory and ergonomics.
