ABSTRACT
GIS is presently utilized within the South Yorkshire Police (SYPOL). SYPOL is a regional policy agency in the north of England. GIS is a relatively new introduction within the constantly developing suites of software and hardware that any modern police force has to maintain. GIS assists the SYPOL in combating crime, but is also used to produce the required statistical data to show how well or badly SYPOL is performing against central government indicators.
