ABSTRACT
Xenobiotics can interfere with both processes. They can not only inhibit DNA synthesis and cell proliferation, but also stimulate DNA synthesis. Both effects can have potentially dangerous consequences. The key to these effects is the cell cycle, which is closely linked to apoptosis.
