ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses both the particular and different problems of accessing adequate housing faced by many women and men, the special housing needs of women associated with their own need for shelter and safety in a society in which they are likely to earn low incomes, and the housing needs of women who are responsible for children. It also considers evidence of gendered routes into homelessness and the potentially gendered impact of current housing policies and new homelessness legislation.
