ABSTRACT

Advocacy, the ‘brick by brick’ building of an argument, blending the gathering, examination and interrogation of sources with rigorous logic. An advocate, or proponent, strives to make her or his argument, or case, unassailable against scepticism. All arguments contain some level of partisanship. Practitioners working in the advocacy explanatory paradigm focus their arguments on historical sources that they insist can reveal the truth under forensic examination and interrogation.
