ABSTRACT

Radio regulations are required to ensure that those who need or wish to use radio (especially in emergency situations) can do so without causing and suffering from undue interference. The regulations regarding use of maritime radio are set out in the Radio Regulations, as published by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). UK registered vessels are, in addition, required to adhere to the conditions laid out in the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 published by The Stationery Office (TSO).
