ABSTRACT
All shipping with suitable receiving equipment may listen to meteorological transmissions which are initiated by the appropriate maritime authority in their respective countries. Many coast stations worldwide transmit meteorological information to shipping for particular areas on a regular basis. In addition to these services, national broadcasting stations also transmit weather reports at fixed times which may be of interest to mariners.
