THE KILDARE SUPREMACY AND THE REFORMATION, 1477–1540

This period marks the culmination of the Home Rule demand of the English in Ireland, asserted definitely in 1460. Though interrupted by Poynings’ law in 1495, it continued in effect till the fall of the House of Kildare.
