ABSTRACT

In this chapter I focus, once again, on both the man as a father as well as on the man as a care provider. The situation of these men during the childbearing process has been critically examined in the preceding chapters. I now refocus our attention to build on the earlier chapters, with a view to making recommendations to remedy any unsatisfactory aspects of the situation in which the man finds himself. In order to do this, I will attempt to analyse the proposals which have been advanced in order to assess their feasibility and effectiveness. The proposals have related mainly to the needs of the man becoming a father as opposed to the man as a care provider. The proposals have sought to address aspects such as his education and support. These aspects, though, have been addressed from various angles, including from policy, practice and personal viewpoints.
