ABSTRACT
A 2 hour conversation I had with Emma, a 31 year-old woman, about ‘body image’ forms the basis for the following analysis. Emma and I have a casual friendship of 3 years’ duration and we meet perhaps half a dozen times a year. Emma offered to talk to me about her own experiences for my research (which in the early days I still referred to as ‘body image research’).
