ABSTRACT
Figure 2.4 presented a graphic illustration of the interplay of the key factors involved in an analysis of sustainability in Third World tourism. In the chapters that followed we attempted to broaden the notion of sustainability and to analyse the new forms of tourism from different perspectives using an inter-disciplinary approach. Figure 2.4 was a muchsimplified version, presented to show the framework for the analysis in subsequent chapters. This is ‘fleshed out’ in Figure 10.1 with some of the detail of the analyses of the key relationships, using examples from throughout the book. The figure links the key themes and key words discussed above and expands the notion of sustainability in Third World tourism by presenting relationships between the key themes and the factors which feed into an analysis of tourism.
