ABSTRACT
Buddhist philosophy (or religion) still enjoys considerable popularity in many parts of the world; surprisingly enough, an increasing resonance can be observed in the Western hemisphere: Beyond the West, traditional orientations and the marked adaptability of Buddhism to varying local circumstances have played an important role in its survival over a period of more than two and a half thousand years.
