ABSTRACT
A king of the Lapiths of Thessaly and a close friend of Theseus. He was Zeus’ son by Ixion’s wife Dia. He succeeded Ixion on the throne of Thessaly, but was soon involved in a war with the Centaurs who, as Ixion’s sons, claimed a share of his kingdom. After a fierce struggle the dispute was settled amicably, the Centaurs being given Mount Pelion as their land.
